Baby Glen: 38 weeks

2 weeks to go until your due date Baby G! Suddenly it has become very real that you could be here any day now, although I’m really trying not to get my hopes up that I won’t go overdue.

This week you’re almost 50cm long and could weigh anything from 6.8lbs to 8.5lbs! Who knows exactly how much you’ll weigh? I think we should start some sort of sweepstake now on birth date and weight and see who wins!

I’m now off on maternity leave and trying to keep myself busy. I’m terrible at relaxing, I always feel like I need to be doing something but I know I really should just enjoy a few days of doing nothing before I don’t have a moment to myself.

We’ve been finishing some bits and bobs around the house, installing a baby gate on the kitchen door to keep our nosey beagle Alfie out during nappy changes and when we get visitors. I also got a phone call from a lady on the Health Visitor team arranging to come and see us in the next few days, so that’ll be interesting.

I’m at the point now where I don’t feel I could possibly grow any more and I’m really just ready to have our baby here in my arms! Trying to stay patient is so, so difficult!!

My weight this week was actually 0.2lbs lower than last week, despite eating a fair amount as I’ve been so hungry! Total gain at 38 weeks pregnant is 38.7lbs or 2st 10.7lbs. I lost 3st previously using Weight Watchers and exercising so once baby is here I’ll give myself around 2 months for everything to settle down, then I’ll decide if I want to go back to using WW or if I just think I can lose the rest of the weight on my own by just eating better. I won’t be in any particular rush!
