Spa stay at Ramside Hall

So a couple of months ago I decided to book an overnight stay and spa for Matt and I as a little mini break before our holiday to Rome. Anyone who has recently been married will know how hard the post wedding blues are so I find it important to have things to look forward to so I don’t get too sad!! I looked at a few options of where to go, we considered Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate but when I got a quote for their overnight spa package it was almost £500! We also looked into The Garage Spa (The Morritt) near Barnard Castle as we have been there before and enjoyed it, but their packages were also quite pricey.

We eventually settled on Ramside Hall Hotel as I’d seen photos of their brand new spa and it looked amazing. I managed to get us a “stay and dine” deal for the hotel which was £174 for the Friday night in a Premier room which included £25pp food credit in their Rib Room restaurant. It was £30 less for a more basic room but from looking at the photos it was well worth the extra for the gorgeous big room and fabulous bathroom.

I also paid for a bottle of prosecco to be waiting for us on check in 😍

Look at this super cute snack basket!! I couldn’t resist snacking on the Jelly Belly sweets 🙊

We paid an extra £50 for a couple’s spa pass which allowed us access to the whole spa from check in till check out. Without the spa pass you can still use the swimming pool, one steam room and one sauna, but the pass gets you into the hydrotherapy pool, another steam room and sauna, plus the outdoor pool and chill area. The whole spa was outstanding!

After relaxing to the nth degree in the spa from about 3.45pm till 7.15pm, we went back to the room to get ready for our evening meal at The Rib Room.

Matt ordered a 10oz rib eye and I ordered the Ramside burger but we halved them to share alongside a portion of hand cut chips each.

The extensive cocktail list was fabulous, I ordered a Bramble which was gin based with creme de mure, blackberries, lime juice and simple syrup and Matt had a Black Widow which was golden rum, Southern Comfort, lime juice and simple syrup.

For desserts, I had a chocolate fondant and Matt had his favourite, treacle tart, although he said it wasn’t as good as the one I make at home (thank you Mary Berry!!). If you can’t already tell, we were a bit keen to eat so I forgot to take a photo before we’d both taken a bite or two!!

Overall it was a lovely meal and we practically rolled back to our hotel room afterwards! We set our alarm for 7am the next morning so we could make the most of the spa again before check out which was even better as we practically had it all to ourselves.

After chilling out again for another hour or so we got ready and went for breakfast before checking out. It’s a buffet style brekky and wasn’t included in our room rate so we paid an extra £12.50 each for this. Totally worth it though as there was tons of choice, I only managed one plate plus a Danish pastry 🙈

Then we were finally on our way home 😭 we had such an amazing time at Ramside Hall, everything was perfect and it was so nice to have a little break together. We don’t have any babies (yet!) but I can see this becoming a regular little date night away for the kids in a few years time!
